Greenhorns Release!! (Free Quickstart with 12-18 hours of ready-to-play “dungeons”!)
Good morning from Kansas!!
I’m excited to say today is release day for the Greenhorns Quickstart! I’ve had a ton of fantastic playtests and am stoked to finally share the game. The Quickstart is fully playable with about 12-18 hours worth of ready-to-play gaming. It’s complete with the current final draft of the core rules and planet creation missions (dungeon delving equivalent). Greenhorns is a dangerously fast weird scifi rpg where you play as glass cannons. There are plenty of awesome player turns, but the enemies are even more deadly. Badasses dying in a blaze of glory. The game rewards creativity and narrative gameplay vs charging in blasting cannons.

A few more things before the reveals. This Saturday, at roughly noon, I will be on The Weekly Scroll to talk about Greenhorns and run a game for those wonderful folks!! I’ll be on Dieku Games Game Pitch on Dec. 19th at 3pm EST, and PlusOne Exp actual play soon also! I’m going to make sure to make each one worth watching with different focuses and adventures :)
The rest of this issue is very short. I’ve lost another few weeks to a virus and haven’t had the time to write up a deep dive of the Greenhorns design work as I intended. So instead, I’ll be adding Greenhorns design thoughts (Greenhorns worldbuilding, hacking Together We Go, etc.) in parts over the next couple of months.
**Also, please note that Greenhorns has not gone through professional editing and I haven’t had an opportunity to hyperlink it yet. Although an update will be coming by the end of the month!**
Now, back to the excitement with some screenshots.
Working with Diego has been incredible still. We decided to give the Quickstart a full color theme vs doing a single color overlay over the inks from the full version. The Quickstart only features a few pieces from the hardcover, but I’m really happy with how full it feels.
Diego killed the colors again! Here’s the Quickstart cover.
Plus some interiors!! This one is the first sneak peak of The Creatora Machinika, the sentient, matter transmuting machine driven to beautify space. It’s the god-like machine that does the creation. The crew is Kruxian, a humanoid alien species that was chosen by The Great Machine to steward the creation of the galaxy.
Next we have the Blast Master! The glassiest and most powerful cannon!
Making a Character and Character Sheet! One of my favorite things about Together We Go is the half page character sheet that has all of the player facing rules and player classes so everyone has an idea of both what they can do and what everyone else can do.
Planet Creation Missions Spread!
And for those that stuck around a reveal from the full hardcover version of Greenhorns. The Construct Mage + Blast Master illustrations.
And finally a quick update on everything else Spicy Tuna.
Outsourced PDF Release: I’m racing to get this done and delivered by Dec. 16th, this Saturday!! If I miss this date it’ll only be by a few days. It’s all so close!!
Outsourced Print Release: We are at the final stages of getting paper ordered from the printer!
Incorporated. Layout and art has begun!! More in the next issue.
Knuckles Co and Professional Rebels from the Outer Rim Uprising bundle: Will be done and in Iko’s hands by the end of the month.
I am relieved to be wrapping up so many large projects. I got a bit too caught up with moving too many projects at once. I think my creative output works best with 1 main/urgent project, 1 upcoming that I have longer time frames when I’m the bottle neck, and a third that is not urgent but when I need a break from the other two or just need to use different ideas out of my head and on to paper. I’m excited to be focused on both Greenhorns and Incorporated for the most part after Outsourced and ORU projects are finished!
Anyways!! Thank you for sticking around! Next issue, I will be releasing an interview I did with Garry Snow from Dieku Games about Bug Busters Ltd and have a lot more meat to bite into.
I hope you have a lovely day with wonderful experiences!
Marco
